Houston METRO Purchases GeoIntelis Enterprise

The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, known as Houston METRO, has purchased a software license to GeoIntelis Enterprise and engaged R7 Solutions to design and build a customized workflow management system based on the software.
The purchase of a GeoIntelis Enterprise License was recently authorized by the METRO Board of Directors.
GeoIntelis is being used as a right-of-way management system and land lease management system, as well as for long-term land title, infrastructure and asset management.
Houston METRO describes the project in their Board of Director documents, made public this week:
“…[A] contract with R7 Solutions to provide METRO with a land tract management system, dynamic mapping environment, right-of-way workflows, reference map layers, in a platform that can be affordably updated in the future.”

Houston METRO’s service area includes 3.5 million citizens in the nation’s fourth largest city. METRO runs 1,251 buses, 152 paratransit vans and 18 rail cars. METRO had over 81 million passengers in 2010 and has had75 million passengers total on its growing light rail system since launching in 2003. Construction is currently underway for 15 miles of new rail lines with two additional lines in future development.
