The seminar series will feature a basic outline of wireless field technologies currently available for deployment, including geographic information systems and enterprise application connected back to the office wirelessly. It will also include information on how these technologies are affecting industry, and guidelines for selecting and developing powerful new applications for the enterprise using wireless connectivity and handheld devices.

Live demonstrations of most of the hardware and software options will be provided at the seminar, including Microsoft’s Pocket PC, Palm OS, 802.11b wireless ethernet, and a variety of wireless WAN connectivity options.

The seminar will be held at Rice University on October 18, 2001. Attendance at the inaugural seminar will be by invitation only, but follow-up seminars will be given by request at the offices of area energy companies.
